Springtime is conference season, and this year has been a pretty busy one for us at Palantir. We just got back from Museums and the Web in Indianapolis last week, and it’s already time to start getting ready for next week’s CMS Expo. Fortunately, we don’t have to travel too far this time – it’s being held in Evanston, IL, which is only a few miles from our north Chicago office and also happens to be where a few of us live. CMS Expo is a training and business conference focusing on Drupal, Joomla!, Alfresco and other open source content management products. Along with our friends at Acquia, Palantir will be one of the conference’s sponsors, and a number of us will be presenting sessions as well:

  • Larry Garfield will explain how to architect and build sites in Drupal during Drupal Site Building I and II.
  • Colleen Carroll will demonstrate how to deconstruct designs and turn them into beautiful and sustainable Drupal sites during Drupal Theme Design I and II.
  • Matt Butcher will be presenting one session on Javascript and jQuery, and one introducing QueryPath, the new jQuery-like PHP library he’s been developing over the last couple of months while riding the train to and from the office.
  • I will be presenting the pre-conference Ultimate CMS Showdown reprising the results of the session I presented at last month’s South by Southwest Interactive Festival. Expect to see some special guests, including Joomla! team member and SXSW panelist Steve Fisher and a surprise member of the Drupal team

All in all, CMS Expo will offer nearly 50 sessions on a wide variety of topics, featuring well-known speakers from the Drupal, Joomla! and Alfresco communities. If you’re interested in attending, there’s still spots open, and if you click here, you can even take advantage of our $50 registration discount! The conference is being held at the newly remodeled Hotel Orrington in downtown Evanston, surrounded by the widest selection of food and dining on Chicago’s Northshore. If you need pointers on good places to go, just flag one of us down or stop by our booth!
