Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit

It's been a busy fall here in the Pacific Northwest. In the last two months the area has hosted no less than four Drupal events.

Things kicked off in late September with DrupalCamp Victoria. A couple weeks later was the Seattle Drupal Clinic, an event specifically focused at introducing new users to Drupal. Two weeks after that was DrupalCamp Portland, and finally last week a group of Drupal luminaries gathered in Vancouver for the Drupal Contrib Code Sprint, which resulted in usable versions of Views and Coder for Drupal 7

Phew, that's a lot of Drupal! The best part is it's not over yet, Seattle will close off the Drupal season with the Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit this coming weekend, October 24-25.

The idea of doing a larger regional DrupalCamp-style event has been floating around for a while. As demonstrated above you could spend half your life traveling to Drupal events around here (and Vancouver didn't even do a camp this year.) While it is essential to organize locally and visit other groups, it also makes sense to get everyone together in one place for a huge throwdown. Local Drupaler Jared Stoneberg (RockSoup) decided to take this challenge on and, with the cooperation of the members of the Seattle Drupal User Group, has coordinated an amazing event. The Summit will be held at the Seattle campus of Adobe, centrally located in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. The schedule is filled with a stunning array of Drupal luminaries, lunch is provided both days, there's a sponsored after party at a local brewpub Saturday night, and admission is FREE thanks to the generous donations of sponsors large and small (including Palantir.)

I will be giving a revamped version of my Staging and Deployment talk, with a focus on current efforts and an eye towards the future. However, I am really excited about the incredibly strong slate of Drupal 7 presentations including Javascript (Katherine Bailey aka katbailey), DB:TNG (Katherine Senzee aka ksenzee) and Theming (fellow Palantiri John Wilkins aka JohnAlbin speaking remotely from Taiwain!) If you haven't been following what's been going on with the next version of Drupal, this is an incredible opportunity to find out what all the hubub is about. There will also be BoF rooms available all weekend for ad-hoc presentations and on-the-fly discussions.

I'm really excited to get together for one more weekend of Drupal learning, teaching, and community building before the long winter settles in. Please come join us!
