Web Designer/Developer
Palantir is seeking an experienced Web designer/developer for full time position with benefits and competitive salary to work on small and medium-sized Web sites and Web-based applications.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing sophisticated user interfaces for Web browser-based applications and sites, using standards-compliant tools including HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Full-life cycle (design, development, quality assurance, implementation and support) involvement in assigned projects
- Coordinating with programming team during design integration and implementation
- Managing site proliferation, upgrades and content updates
- Participating in external and internal project meetings and contributing exciting, creative ideas as possible solutions for project strategy and architecture
- Maintaining production and standards documentation on design and support projects
- Consulting with other team members with respect to cost and time estimations, as well as, assisting with parts of the proposal writing and budgeting process
- Researching and applying emerging and best-practice online technologies, strategies, and techniques
Required skills:
- Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. A successful candidate will be able to hand-code HTML in a text editor
- Strong understanding of HTML design capabilities and constraints of various platforms and browsers
- Knowledge of print publishing design and processes
- Knowledge of web usability standards and best practices in web interface design
- Experience with Section 508 Accessibility guidelines for web users with disabilities
- Strong proficiency using Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Homesite, Flash, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Understanding of server-side and database technologies, especially PHP and MySQL
- Development experience in both Windows and Mac environments
- Ability to estimate, prioritize and manage multiple projects in deadline-driven environment
- Expert problem solving a must
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills
Experience and Education:
- This position requires a BA/BS in design, communications or a related area of study (preferred) or 5+ years of full-time experience
- 3-5 years of Web design and development experience
